New Release: I Love When We Count

British Columbia’s literacy communities embrace the newly released I Love When We Count. The Ministry of Education has put I Love When We Count numeracy DVD’s in each of it’s 200 Strong Start Centre’s. L.E.A.P. BC (Literacy, Education, Activity and Play) which promotes health and action for children 0-5 has given I Love When We Count to literacy advocates attending their Family Literacy Certificate Program.

“The I Love When We Count DVD is a wonderful addition to our curriculum especially as we explore the parents roles in emergent literacy development.” says Fiona Morrision, Director, Family Literacy and Early Learning for 2010 Legacies Program.

Jeannie Deboice, one of the experts interviewed on I Love When We Count, makes that crucial connection between literacy and numeracy, “People don’t often think of numeracy and literacy together, we have artificially separated numeracy and literacy in school but truly numeracy is literacy.”
