Big Dog / Softy
BIG DOG WAS BORED and SOFTY THE CAT
Now It’s Your Turn! (during the non-narrated story)

Focus on the animated words. Pause the video or DVD at the end of an animated word such as drive or wiggle and discuss how it moves and why it moves that way.
Your child could jump up, bark or even wag her tail each time she sees or hears the word dog. What could she do for the word cat? What other words could she act out?
Before or After the Show
Get outside and go for a Big-Dog-walk. Pretend you are doggies. Run, walk, go up hills and go down hills.
Email or mail a letter to Big Dog (bigdog@readtv.com) or Softy (softy@readtv.com). With their owners help they’ll write back.

Find some art-words from Softy the Cat . Can you make the word bird look like a bird? Can you make the word mouse look like a mouse?
Go for a walk at a dog-park. Say hi to friendly dog walkers. Find out the names of their dogs. If the dog’s name is Buster sound out the word Buster as you watch him play. Guess what letters are in the name Buster. Can your child make up a story about Buster? If you child is too young to construct a story, construct one together or tell him a story that you make up.
